Summer Discovery - A Success! This summer, Vistamar held its first summer program, Summer Discovery. The three week program was well attended by local middle school students who participated in a wide variety of classes. The inaugural program offered eight classes ranging from speech and debate to volleyball, to ceramics.
We are pleased with the enthusiasm from students and parents and we look forward to extending our Summer Discovery program to more students and plan on expanding our offerings for summer 2009. First Vistamar Graduates! On Saturday, June 14, fourteen seniors walked across the stage, received the first Vistamar diplomas and became our first alumni. All of these graduates will be attending college in the fall and will be heading to places like Pitzer, University of Oregon, Wheaton College, Southern Methodist University, Chapman College, Cal State Fullerton, University of Wisconsin, and John Hopkins University. We are so proud of them! Vistamar Students on International Exchange in Japan This summer, five Vistamar students have ventured off to Osaka Japan to participate in an international exchange. The Vistamar students are matched up with Japanese families during this three week program. Several of the families who are hosting the Vistamar students, had participated in their own exchange with Vistamar School last spring. The Vistamar students are getting a full and rich experience by participating in academic classes, learning judo, eating authentic Japanese food like teriyaki eel and will soon be living and working on a Japanese farm.
