Meet the Admissions Team

Oscar Cancio | Director of Admissions

Oscar joined the Vistamar community in July 2019 and is beyond thrilled to be here. Prior to coming to Vistamar, he was one of the Associate Directors of Admission at his alma mater, Harvard-Westlake School. In that role, he led the office’s Student Ambassadors Program, worked closely with Spanish-speaking families, spearheaded outreach to schools in underserved areas of Los Angeles, and served as the liaison for Community Based Organizations.

Oscar has worked in the Admissions field ever since he graduated from college. Before taking on independent school admissions, he worked in graduate and undergraduate admissions at the University of La Verne, the University of Southern California, and Bates College.

He earned his B.A. in English with a focus on African-American literature from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. In 2016, he received a Business Certificate from UCLA Extension.

During his personal time, Oscar can be found playing ice hockey at the Toyota Sports Center, boxing, spending time with his nephews, volunteering in Long Beach or rooting for his Boys in Blue at Dodger Stadium.

Courtney Greer-Brown | Assistant Director of Admissions

Courtney gladly joined the Admissions team at Vistamar in February of 2020, and the city of Los Angeles in July of 2019. Before moving to California, Courtney was an elementary school teacher in Richmond, Virginia where her work included forging close relationships with family and community members and supporting students in a variety of roles. As the grade level chairperson she was the liaison between classroom teachers and the administrative team, and she has worked closely with students with special needs as the inclusion classroom team lead.
Courtney’s commitment to advocacy for under-served communities and love of students and schools is a perfect fit for her role at Vistamar School, where she can support students and families as they plan for the future.
She earned her B.A. in Elementary and Early Childhood Education in 2016 from Virginia Commonwealth University and then went on to earn her M.A. in Teaching with a focus on Urban Education.
Beyond the work day at Vistamar, you can find Courtney spending time with her family, doing yoga, hiking, or swimming, or checking out the latest fine art exhibits that this colorful city has to offer.

Mollie Cameron | Admissions Associate

Mollie began working at Vistamar School as a temporary Admissions Intern in December of 2019 before accepting this full-time role in March, 2020. She is thrilled to be a part of the team.

Mollie attended Seattle University for her first two years of college and then finished up at Chapman University where she graduated with a B.A. in Political Science and Peace Studies. Over the course of her college career she worked in the IT department and the fundraising/development office, as well as completing an events and marketing internship at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes. Prior to joining Vistamar, she worked at a pediatric oncology camp.

Mollie loves working with students to help them grow into their best selves. She is passionate about creating intentional communities and relationships, and looks forward to contributing to the amazing Vistamar community.

When Mollie isn't at work, she is either at the beach listening to some good podcasts, taking her dogs to the dog park, or volunteering up at Camp for the weekend.

Vistamar School is a private independent high school in the South Bay region of Los Angeles.
