Learn more about Campus Life

At Vistamar, we choose to start our day together at Morning Meeting or in Advisory. Morning Meeting is our all school assembly where students and faculty share their experiences, exciting projects and performances. Advisory is a mixed-grade level, small group for students and a faculty member get together throughout the week to check in and connect. Students stay with their group throughout their time at Vistamar.
Student Life at Vistamar School is centered around our community norms of Civility, Integrity, and Initiative. Student leaders plan and organize events around campus to raise awareness about current events and celebrate school spirit.
Walking through an academic commons throughout the day, students are gathered together working on projects, organizing a bake sale, or meeting with a teacher. Regardless of the event or the assignment, one aspect is always visible: we're sharing stories and learning together.
As Dean of Students, my door is always open to discuss student ideas for a new club, to listen to their concerns, and to work together toward solutions. I am present for parents as they partner with the school to navigate the academic and social experiences that students encounter. Together, with the other members of the Student Services team, we strive to meet each family where they are and ensure that each student is known on campus.
At Vistamar, we aim to not only support and value students passions but also their identities. That’s why interest and affinity groups have become an important part of student life here. Student leaders hold space for each other to discuss issues and triumphs around different identities. Our interest and affinity groups include African American Association, Mixed Kidz Club, GSA, Latino Student Association, Asian Club, and more.
In partnership with our parent association, PAVE (Parents Alliance for Vistamar Education), we host Taste of Vistamar in the fall and Soulful Celebration in the spring of each year. Taste of Vistamar is a full community gathering filled with food, entertainment and learning about the various cultures within our community reflective of the world at large. It’s one of those events, you would be sad to miss! Soulful Celebration is an annual event that was conceived and created by Black parents to celebrate Black history and culture, and has become a beloved annual event for the whole Vistamar community. At this event, you can expect an evening of wonderful music from Vistamar’s Rock Ensemble, original poetry and performances from students. This too, is a reflection of celebrating and honoring the different cultures in our community.
Vistamar students discover new parts of themselves here, feel connected to the community and are valued for their individual identities.
