Senior Projects at Vistamar

One of the signature features at Vistamar is our Senior Project Program!
12th graders at Vistamar get to participate in our Senior Project Program that takes place the last three weeks of the school year. The seniors intern in Los Angeles, across the US, and abroad, working with off-campus mentors to explore a vast array of personal interests and possible career paths.

Here are some highlights from previous years:
• Fueled by his passion for history and love of Thomas Jefferson, one student spent three weeks at Monticello giving tours of Jefferson’s home and working in his garden.

• Another student studied brewing at a local start-up brewery. Practicing the science of microbrewing, she successfully created a new beer.

• One student volunteered with the Bob Hope USO at Los Angeles International Airport. She was so inspired that she continued volunteering after Senior Projects finished.

• An interest in robotics led a student to an internship at Northrop Grumman - he did such a great job that he was offered an internship for the following summer after his freshman year in college.

Evident in these examples are the wide-ranging interests and talents of Vistamar students. Vistamar is focused on providing every senior with similar learning experiences that foster their passions and set them up for success.
