Sophomores were treated to a Chinese tea service this week as a supplement to their current novel study, Lisa See's "The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane."
During the tasting portion of the experience, students could help prepare and sample pu erh, the tea at the center of the story, as well as several other black and white teas, using Chinese methods of preparation. "I feel closer to the characters now, knowing what it takes to produce this tea and how vital it was for the Akha hill tribe's economy," said one participant. Thank you, Autentica Tea, for facilitating this on-campus field trip!
