Boys Varsity Basketball: The boy's basketball team traveled to Downey on Monday to play in the St. Pius X - St. Matthias MLK Showcase event.  The Vikings faced off against The Palmdale Aerospace Academy in the first game of the day. Jaylen B., made a couple big shots in the second quarter including a buzzer-beating three-pointer to send the Vikings into the half with a 24-12 lead.  Vistamar's zone defense was stifling in the third quarter as they held Palmdale Aerospace to just two points for the first seven minutes after the break. Gavin E., made one particularly impressive defensive play during this time taking a charge to stop a sure transition bucket.  Offensively, strong ball movement led to several good looks both inside and outside for the Vikings, and they emerged with the 49-36 victory. Jaylen led the team with 11 points while Shane MS., added eight and Fanuel A., scored seven points all in the second quarter.

Boys Varsity Soccer: Vistamar boys went down to CAMS  in the first half. Despite being down the boys were creating chances and controlling the game. With CAMS going down a man due to a red card the Vikings experienced a wave of momentum for the remainder of the match but fell short of putting away chances. Vikings lost 0-1 but are looking ahead to their next match.

Boys JV Basketball: The Vikings started out the first portion of the first-quarter staying with Mary Star by some good three-point shooting and strong zone defense. But Mary Stars’ size bothered us throughout the game, they had many second chance opportunities, as well as using their size and length to press us and create turnovers. Final score was 68 to 29.

Girls Varsity Soccer: Vistamar played HMSA for a second time and it ended in a draw, 1-1. Sadie  H., scored the one goal assisted by Noelle B. There were 14 saves by Anabella White.
