Transfer Applicant Information

Vistamar School's transfer application cycle for the 2018-2019 school year is available. We currently have limited spaces in grades 9, 10, and 11. Vistamar runs on a trimester system and students considering a mid-year entry, should check with their school registrar to make sure they can receive quarter or trimester credit. 

Please review the entry point dates, deadlines and steps to apply below:

Entry Point 1: First Trimester on August 28th
  • All applications and supplemental materials must be in no later than August 15th
  • Decisions rendered by August 17th.
Entry Point 2: Second Trimester on November 26
  • All applications and supplemental materials must be in no later than November 9th. 
  • Decisions rendered by November 16th.
Entry Point 3: Midyear on January 8th
  • All applications and supplemental materials must be in no later than December 7th. 
  • Decisions rendered by December 14th.
Entry Point 4: Third Trimester on March 8th
  • All applications and supplemental materials must be in no later than February 8th.
  • Decisions rendered by February 15th.

  • Q: What are the deadlines and steps to apply to Vistamar as a transfer for the 2019 - 2020 school year?

    Vistamar’s application is only available online—it goes live on August 1, 2018. 

    The annual deadline to submit an application for the 2019-20 academic year is January 17, 2019 so don’t procrastinate. In fact, we recommend you complete your application well before this date to ensure consideration for the limited spaces we have in grades 9, 10, and 11. Please scroll up to review the steps to apply and refer to the right hand column for the 2019 - 2020 supplemental forms. 

    Supporting Materials: All supporting materials, such as recommendations and transcripts, must be received by January 18, 2019.

    Admissions decisions will be released electronically and by mail at 5:00 PM on Friday, March 8, 2019. If you decide to accept your offer of admission at Vistamar, contracts are due no later than Tuesday, March 19, 2019.




     
  • Q: Is Vistamar accepting transfer applications for the 2018 - 2019 School Year?

    Yes. 

    We currently have limited spaces in grades 9, 10, and 11. Vistamar runs on a trimester system and students considering a mid-year entry, should check with their school registrar to make sure they can receive quarter or trimester credit.  

    STEP 1: Fill out the Online Inquiry Form and indicate your desired entry date in the notes/comments field.

    Please note: If you have already completed the inquiry form, then you are in our database and do not need to fill out the form again.
  • Q: What are the Steps to Apply to Vistamar as a mid-year (18 - 19) transfer student?

    Here are the steps you should follow to find Your V FACTOR:

    STEP ONE: SUBMIT AN INQUIRY. Fill out our online form.

    STEP TWO:  APPLY TO VISTAMAR.
    1. Complete Vistamar’s online application
      • Please note, applications for Moderated Tuition closed with our priority deadline on January 31, 2018. 
    2. Submit recommendation forms and transcript request forms to your current school  all forms are available to download on the right hand column. 
    • To monitor the status of your application, please review the checklist within your myVistamar portal.
    * There is a one-time application fee of $125. 
     
    STEP THREE:  SUBMIT YOUR TESTING

    The Independent School Entrance Exam 
    (ISEE) . Vistamar requires that each 8th and 9th grade applicant take the ISEE and that all scores taken within a given year be reported to Vistamar.  Please make sure your scores are sent to Vistamar School by entering the school code 054327 in the “Report to Schools” section of the registration form.

    Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) . Vistamar requires that each 10th and 11th grade applicant who has taken the PSAT within a given year report their scores to Vistamar. Please contact the College Board for any additional questions. 


    STEP FOUR:  SCHEDULE YOUR INTERVIEW.

     After your online application has been submitted, you will be directed to to set up an interview with a member of the Vistamar Admissions Committee or Community. You and your parent(s) or guardian(s) will be interviewed individually, and you can plan on spending no more than one hour at Vistamar.

    We are happy to give you and your family a campus tour while you are on our campus for your interview. Please add that request in the "notes" portion of the interview appointment.
     

    STEP FIVE:  RECEIVE ADMISSIONS OUTCOMES.

    Once we receive all supplemental forms, we will move your file to the Admissions Committee. To check the status of your file, please review the admissions checklist in your myVistamar portal. 

    Admissions decisions will be released electronically and by mail at 5:00 PM on the designated entry point date: August 17th, November 16th, December 14th, or February 15th. If you decide to accept your offer of admission at Vistamar, contracts are due within one week. 
  • Q: How do I re-apply if I was not admitted or admitted and decided not to attend?

    The Admission Committee wishes to have the most current and up-to-date information on all applicants to the school and, therefore, applications from the previous year cannot be automatically reactivated.

    Any student who was or was not offered admission and wishes to be considered for the following academic year should call the Admission Office to discuss the individual situation. To start a new application, please start by filling out the Online Inquiry Form and recommendation forms are available online.

Required Testing Information

Vistamar School requires that all 8th and 9th grade applicants take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) as part of the application process. When registering online to take the exam, make sure to list our school code, “054327.”

You can register with Educational Records Bureau (ERB) online at www.iseetest.org or call ERB directly at 1.800.446.0320. Please keep in mind, dates fill quickly! We encourage you to review “What to expect on ISEE," a guide published by the ISEE to help families learn more about the test.
