Community Outreach

Community Outreach

The Admissions Team and the Office of Equity and Inclusion work closely to attract a population of students that reflects the diversity of Los Angeles. Our students come from over 50 zip codes and 80 different sending schools, with nearly 45% of students identifying as students of color and approximately 33% on moderated tuition
We also partner with Community Based Organizations (CBOs) such as the Independent School Alliance (ISA), Young Eisner Scholars (YES), A Better Chance (ABC), and KIPP Public Charters to ensure that access is provided to families who may not otherwise be familiar with independent schools. Enrolling a group of students from a variety of backgrounds affords Vistamar students the opportunity to learn more about the world around them. We encourage spirited debate, contrasting points of view, and the celebration of differences. The rich intellectual engagement that students experience in our classrooms daily is enhanced by our diverse population.

Multicultural Student College Fair

In keeping with Vistamar’s mission to promote equity and inclusion in the college admissions process, the Office of Life Planning hosts an annual Multicultural Student College Fair each October. Now in its 13th year, the event welcomes students from throughout Los Angeles, with a special focus on first-generation and historically underrepresented populations.

Admissions representatives from over 100 institutions across the country attend to field questions and spark conversations with students. Vistamar also offers workshops during the fair covering useful topics including financial aid, the HBCU experience, and the college search process.
Through targeted outreach to area high schools and in partnership with enrichment programs, community and faith-based organizations and other agencies, we look forward to meeting hundreds of amazing students and families on our campus. Learn more here.
